The provincial agriculture ministry has presented it's Ontario Food Exporter Awards to three companies.
The awards recognize companies that have helped strengthen the provincial economy through increased exports of Ontario manufactured food to new and existing markets.
The top award went to TWI Foods Incorporated.
Based in Etobicoke, TWI posted rapid growth in exports of cake-rusks, cookies, cakes and frozen foods to markets in the U-K, The U-S, Australia, Germany and Singapore in the past two years.
The two finalists are Handi Foods and Super Pufft Snacks.
Handi Foods is in Toronto and exports pita bread and snacks to the U-S, Australia and Saudi Arabia.
Super Pufft Snacks, from Mississauga, sells popcorn, potato chips an canister crisps to more than 30 countries.
OMAFRA says Ontario's 2014 agri-food exports were worth more than 12 point 5 billion dollars.
That's about 22 per cent of Canada's total agri-food exports.
