Beef Farmers of Ontario officials are keeping an eye on the Cargill meat plant situation in Guelph.
Workers at the company's Dunlop beef processing facility have given their union negotiators a strike mandate.
Such a strike could start as early as the next couple of weeks.
A Cargill spokesperson says the company will continue to negotiate in good faith and is hopeful an agreement can be reached that's satisfactory to both sides.
BFO says the Guelph plant is the largest federal plant in the province, with a capacity of 75 hundred head of steers and heifers per week.
