The cost of farm inputs in Canada was up almost half a per cent in the third quarter of 2015 from the second quarter.
Statistics Canada reports a 1 point 7 per cent increase in animal production costs led the way.
Machinery and motor vehicle costs were also up on the quarter while crop production, buildings and general business costs were lower.
Farm input prices were up 1 point 5 per cent from the third quarter of 2014, led by a 6 point 7 per cent increase in animal production costs.
Here in Ontario, farm input costs were down almost half a per cent from the second to the third quarters of 2015.
Compared to the third quarter of 2014, Ontario farm input costs were up 2 per cent.
