Parmalat is building a major new dairy processing facility in Manitoba.
The 50 million dollar plant will replace an aging building in St. Boniface.
The federal and provincial governments are contributing 2 and a half million dollars to the project.
Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay says it's an opportunity for governments to support private sector efforts.
Parmalat spokesman Jean Paul Quiblier says the plant shows his company's commitment and support of agriculture in Manitoba.
The company already employs 139 people in three Manitoba plants.
It expects the new, expanded St. Boniface facility to boost that number.
