Farmers Told Growing Forward 2 Funding Available For Planning/Implementation

Government lending programs and drone technology a couple of the topics at BDO's recent agricultural road show series.

BDO rep Barry Heaney says there aren't many changes to note under the new federal Liberal government.

But he says AgInvest and AgriStability are still there.

Heaney says Growing Forward 2 still has a couple of years left "where there is some funding available for farmers to do planning and implementation."

Vev Jackson from Precision Hawk Tech showed off some of what drones could do for farmers.

According to Jackson, that includes "getting a snapshot of exactly what they're doing and estimating early on if there are diseases with the crop."

While drones are expensive, Jackson suggests it's a convenient way for farmers to take stock of their crop throughout the season and track their gross output for a year.
