Incentive Days Added To Boost P5 Dairy Production

The P5 dairy quota boards are adding some incentive days for both conventional and organic producers over the next 16 months, starting with December.

The boards say those days are being added because market demand for dairy products continues to be higher than production.

1 incentive day has been added per month for conventional producers for December through February, 2 for August and November of 2016 and 3 for September and October of 2016.

More days have been added for organic producers to meet demand for their milk.

4 incentive days have been added per month from December through February, 3 days for the months March through July, 5 in August, then 6 in September and October, back to 5 in November and three for December of 2016 and January through March of 2017.

A statement on the Dairy Farmers of Ontario website says the P5 quota committee will continue to monitor production and market trends.
