A resolution that would have required more approvals for Ontario Federation of Agriculture media releases was defeated today at the OFA's annual meeting in Toronto.
The Huron County Federation had proposed all media releases be approved by the OFA board and not just the OFA president.
Supporters of the resolution suggested it would give the Federation's elected officials some protection in cases where those releases could create some conflicts within the organisation.
Some of those opposed argued the delegates elected their leaders to act on their behalf and they should allow them to do so.
Although not specified in the resolution, some of the delegates suggested the resolution was related to the Don McCabe quote used by the Ministry of Environment in it's neonic-treated seed regulation announcement.
In the end the delegates voted to turn down the changes proposed in the resolution.
