FarmStart is offering a new Farm Viability Course this winter in Guelph and Chatham-Kent.
It's designed to give farmers the tools to make efficient, grounded decisions about starting and running their businesses.
It's being taught by farmers with firsthand knowledge and experience managing their farm finances.
Graham Corbett of Fiddle Foot Farm in Mansfield is teaching the Guelph sessions.
He says it's about being confident that your business has the capacity to pay back a loan.
Chris Knight of Clear Creek Farms in Highgate says a lot of farmers are more comfortable dealing with their crop sand livestock than their numbers .
He's teaching the course in Chatham-Kent.
The program runs over three days.
Chatham-Kent dates are November 28th, January 9th and January 23rd.
The Guelph dates are December 14th, January 11th and February 8th.
It costs 195 dollars per person or 350 dollars for a farming pair.
More details and registration information is on the FarmStart website - www.farmstart.ca.
