Ontario Pork: Some Protestors Endanger Animals & Themselves

Ontario Pork has released a statement critical of the actions of some animal rights protestors.

The hog producers group suggests animal and public safety is being increasingly compromised by protestors.

The statement says the actions of protestors in some cases have seriously jeopardized the safety of animals, the people transporting them and the safety of the protestors themselves.

Ontario Pork argues best practices for animal transport that are safe for the animals, transports drivers and the public are firmly established.

And it points out Ontario's meat production, transportation and processing industry is both federally and provincially regulated.

While agreeing individuals have the right to protest, Ontario Pork says safety for all parties and food integrity must not be compromised.
