Maple Leaf says it's Agribusiness Group is doing better this year than it was a year ago.
However, it also suggests the improvement was moderated by the costs of dealing with PED and converting existing farms to loose sow housing.
Maple Leaf's Agribusiness Group saw it's Adjusted Operating Earnings go to 1 point 6 million dollars from a 1 point 6 million dollar loss in the previous third quarter.
Year-over-year the Agribusiness Group Adjusted Operating Earnings went from 3 point 3 million last year to 8 point 2 million this year.
The company says it's Meat Products Group posted Adjusted Operating Earnings of 28 point 3 million on the quarter, compared to a loss of 18 point 2 million last year.
Year over year, the group's Adjusted Operating Earnings went to 53 point 8 million from a 61 point 3 million dollar loss a year ago.
Maple Leaf Foods is reporting overall net earnings from continuing operations for the third quarter of 18 point 7 million dollars.
That's a significant turnaround from the 26 point 7 million dollar loss reported a year ago.
