Gay Lea's Education Initiative Wins Co-Operative Award

Gay Lea Foods Co-operative is among those being recognized with Co-operative Spirit awards at this week's Co-Op Conference and Celebration in Milton.

The province's largest dairy co-operative is getting it's award for co-operative education.

That's based on it's recently launched development programs for delegates, directors and employees called 'Leadership in Governance: by farmers for farmers' and 'Lighthouse'.

Other Co-operative Spirit Award winners include Ian Shewan of Lerners LLP in London for advocacy and government relations - TeamWerks Co-operative of Thunder Bay for co-operative engagement - and Peggy Baillie of Eat Local Sudbury Co-operative for co-op development.

The Ontario Co-operative Association is the trade association for Ontario's 13 hundred co-operative businesses.
