Soil Analysis Discounts For OSCIA Members

Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association members can get a discount on their soil analysis rates at some Ontario labs.

It's a 10 per cent discount.

OSCIA spokesperson Cathy Dibble says a big goal is to get more producers soil-testing on a regular basis.

OMAFRA Soil Fertility Specialist Jake Munroe says many farmers don't soil test every three years - which is the minimum recommendation.

He argues soil tests are one of the easier ways farmers can demonstrate good environmental stewardship.

OSCIA President Alan Kruszel suggests that with fertilizer costs approaching 200 dollars an acre, spending a few dollars an acre for soil testing is a very wise investment.
