U-S Corn Harvest Almost At Halfway Mark

The U-S corn harvest is right on pace while the soybean harvest is running ahead of average so far this fall.

The USDA's latest crop progress report puts the corn harvest 42 per cent completed, 1 point behind the five year average.

Soybeans are 62 per cent completed - 8 points better than the average.

No change in the condition of either of those crops over the past week - corn's 68 per cent good to excellent, soybeans 64 per cent.

For corn, that's 6 points behind last year.

It's 9 points behind for soybeans.

The USDA reports 64 per cent of the U-S winter wheat crop has been planted - just two points off the five year average.

The department says 33 per cent of the winter wheat has emerged - 3 points behind the average for this time of the year.
