91 Ontario apple growers will get some of the benefit from a provincial government investment announced this week.
Ontario is putting 1 point 5 million dollars into Lassonde Industries to help the company buy and install a new high-speed, Tetra Pak packaging line.
That line will to boost it's hourly capacity from 6 thousand packages per hour to 24 thousand.
Lassonde's Toronto plant sources the apples for their juice line from 91 Ontario apple growers.
The investment is also expected to create 15 new jobs and help keep 114 current jobs.
The money comes from the provincial Food and Beverage Growth Fund.
It supports food, beverage and bioproduct manufacturing projects that create and retain jobs, increase domestic and export market access and enhance innovation and productivity.
