The Beef Cattle Research Centre wants to point researchers to projects that will be practical and beneficial for the industry.
One way the Council is doing that is through it's Beef Researcher Mentorship Program.
Participating researchers will have the chance to deepen their understanding of the beef industry in practical and meaningful ways.
The Council is aiming the program at participants who are most likely to have a long career in applied beef research, who contribute to the viability of the Canadian beef industry and who would benefit most from the experience.
Last year's pilot program had 3 participants.
This year, they've got 4.
One of them is Doctor Angela Canovas of the University of Guelph.
Doctor Canovas is originally from Spain.
Her research focus is on beef cattle genomics.
