Last week's 88th annual Huron County Plowing Match was a huge success.
Plowmen's Association President Neil Vincent says they got just enough rain on Friday to keep the dust down and he was very happy with the number of people at the event and particularly young people.
Vincent believes the push towards no-till and minimum-till as farmers are becoming more environmentally aware and use less fossil fuels has resulted in reduced commercial use of plowing but he adds it continues to thrive as a sport and he believes that will continue as grand father continue to teach the sport to their children and grand children.
Vincent says they're also very lucky in Huron County to get manufacturers bring their new equipment out to matches to demonstrate how they work in different soil conditions
