CNE Gets Second Male Ambassador Of The Fairs Winner

An ambassador from the Elmvale area is the second male in history to win the Ambassador of the Fairs Competition at the CNE.

Matt Garwood is from the Flos Agricultural Soceity, located northwest of Barrie.

He was named the winner of the 44th Annual Ambassador of the Fairs Competition on Sunday.

It was a three day competition that involved 76 competitors from across the province.

Of those 76 competitors, 26 were from the Midwestern Ontario region.

Three of them made it into the semi-finals - Kaitlin Brown of the Arthur Agricultural Society, Ashely Ferrar of the Mount Forest Agricultural Soceity and Amanda Gray of the Stratford and District Agricultural Soceity.

As for Garwood, he's the first male since 2003 to win the title.

The Ambassador of the Fairs competition has been a longstanding tradition at the CNE, aimed to educate and promote Canadian agriculture while bringing together rural and urban communities.

Finalists were judged on their poise, self-confidence, public speaking and knowledge of Canadian agriculture.
