Putting Money Into Tiling Northern Ontario Farmland

The provincial government is putting is putting over 2 and a half million dollars into agricultural infrastructure in Northeastern Ontario.

Most of that is going into tile drainage projects.

The Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance will be putting it's funding into projects involving about 4 thousand acres and 30 area farmers.

Alliance Administrator Stephanie Vanthof says those projects will help modernize agricultural infrastructure and increase crop yields in the region.

The West Nipissing East Sudbury Agricultural Support Projects group has projects involving over a thousand acres and 19 area farmers.

And the Association of Community Pastures will be using about 35 thousand dollars for fencing and water at the Temiskaming Shores community pasture.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
