CFA: TPP Failure 'Unfortunate' For All Farmers

The Canadian Federation of Agriculture says it's unfortunate negotiators were unable to reach a deal in the Trans Pacific Partnership talks.

The CFA says a delayed conclusion leds to uncertainty for all Canadian farmers.

It points out supply managed farmers face uncertainty over business decisions on their farms.

Meanwhile, export oriented farmers are left facing inequity of rules and treatment between them and their competitors.

President Ron Bonnett says it was clear to him the government was working from a negotiating position that recognizes the needs of all Canadian farmers.

He says he expects the negotiations to continue along that same trajectory.

Bonnett says the CFA hopes negotiators return to the table quickly to reach an agreement recognizing the needs of all Canadian farmers.
