A University of Guelph professor says neonicotinoids are not the only reason for increased bee mortality rates.
Environmental Biology Professor Ernesto Guzman is the director of the University of Guelph's Honeybee Research Centre.
He's also lead organiser of this year's Eastern Apicultural Society conference at the University on August 10th to the 14th.
Professor Guzman says parasites, diseases and other stressors are also among the causes of bee mortality.
He says all those topics will be discussed at the August conference, as well as practical moves beekeepers can make to reduce their losses.
The conference is expected to attract more than 5 hundred bee enthusiasts to the University of Guelph over it's 5 days.
