There are some changes to the Dairy Farmers of Ontario quota policy.
The changes include a reduction in the quota exchange price cap.
It will go from 25 thousand per kilogram to 24 thousand - starting with the August exchange.
All future quota increases will be saleable and any decreases will be to saleable quota.
The changes also include allowing successful applicants to the New Entrant Quota Assistance Program to start with 24 to 32 kilograms of quota.
The previous maximum per participant was 24 kilograms.
Other changes include the establishment of linked facilities and when sellers of an on-going farm operation have to start selling over the Quota Exchange.
The P5 Quota Committee has also agreed to develop a parent-to-child quota top-up policy by February 1st of next year.
The P5 boards include Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.
