DuPont Pioneer is expanding efforts to develop ultra-early maturity corn, canola and soybean varieties for Western Canada.
The company just opened a new research facility in Lethbridge.
It will focus on developing ultra-early maturity corn hybrids.
Corn hybrids suitable for Western Canada's cool climate need to accumulate enough heat and reach maturity before the first autumn killing frost.
The Lethbridge plant is part of DuPont's 35 million dollar, five year investment in research and development for Western Canada.
