Lambton Farm Ontario's 13th Confirmed PED Diagnosis For 2015

A farrow-to-finish pig operation in Lambton County is the latest in the province to have a confirmed PED diagnosis.

That was confirmed July 2nd.

Ontario has averaged one new confirmed case a month since the first of April of this year.

That after 4 confirmed cases in January, 3 in February and 2 in March.

The virus traditionally eases off in the summer months.

The mortality rate in nursing piglets is as high as 100 per cent.

In growing pigs there's a much lower mortality rate.

PED is not considered to be a threat to human health or to food safety.
