Saskatchewan, Manitoba, B-C & Quebec Entrants To Cdn. Ag Hall of Fame

Five people will be inducted into the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame this year.

Hall of Fame Association President Herb McLane says they reflect the vast geography of the country and the diverse disciplines that have collectively contributed to the past, present and future of Canadian agriculture.

Researcher Doctor Ron DePauw developed AC Barrie - a wheat cultivar that continues to set the standard today.

He's from Saskatchewan.

The Honourable Grant Devine contributed to agriculture as an economist , professor, politician and the 11th Premier of Saskatchewan.

The late E. Ward Jones is from Manitoba.

He's being remembered for his role in the development of 4-H across Canada.

Anthony von Mandl is being recognized for his work helping place British Columbia's Okanagan Valley on the international wine map.

And the late Ovila Lebel's nominators say his tireless efforts set in place the foundation for what is now the Egg Farmers of Canada.

He's from Quebec.

This year's Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame Association induction ceremony will be held as part of th Canadian Western Agribition in Regina on November 22nd.
