Dairy Farmers of Canada is applauding Saputo for it's animal welfare policy announced last week.
In a statement posted on the DFC website, the organisation says it's pleased to hear that the Montreal-based dairy is joining it's efforts in continually improving animal care on Canadian farms.
The statement points out there is a Canadian Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Dairy Cattle.
That code was developed with industry stakeholders and partners and was last updated in 2009.
The statement also talks about the proAction initiative - something DFC initiated in 2012 to ensure the highest standards are continuously implemented.
Dairy Farmers of Canada is the national organisation representing this country's dairy farmers.
