Bruce County Federation of Agriculture President Pat Jilesen says he's seeing lots of enthusiasm from medical students the federation hosts each year.
The students are given a one-day tour of farms and agribusinesses by the Federation.
Jilesen says the tour is designed to expose the students to what happens on the farm as well as the types of farm-related injuries they may be asked to deal with if they work in a rural area.
He points out that incidents involving livestock and farm machinery are unique to rural Ontario.
According to Jilesen, the hope is that at least some of the students will see - and welcome - the challenge that practicing medicine in rural Ontario can provide to them.
