Possible ALUS Program For Huron One Step Closer

The formation of an ALUS program Huron County took another step forward at this week's committee of the whole meeting.

Last March Norfolk County presented their ALUS or Alternative Land Use Services program at a Huron County Water Protection Steering Committee meeting.

From that, Huron Co-ordinator Susanna Reid created and presented to county council a recommendation that Huron consider a similar program and asked council for direction on how they would like to proceed.

Reid adds it would be premature at this point to speculate on what kind of financial support the program would require.

County's committee of the whole has recommended that staff look into what would be required to develop an ALUS program for Huron County.

Co-ordinator Susanna Reid says their recommendation is based on a similar Alternative Land Use Services program in Norfolk County.

Reid says at this point, they're not asking for county funding.
