Working To Dispel Pork Production Myths

Ontario Pork is trying to dispel some of the myths consumers have about farming practices.

A series of new videos has real farmers answering common questions about why they do what they do.

The series includes topics such as animal welfare, sow housing and the use of hormones and antibiotics.

Spokesman Doug Ahrens says it's up to farmers to get the message out because, according to Ahrens, somehow consumers have been educated wrong.

Ahrens says they chose the topics for the videos based on questions producers get and questions Ontario Pork's office staff deal with on a regular basis.

Those videos are available through the Ontario Pork website - as well as on YouTube, Google Videos and Facebook.
