Project Funding To Increase Grain Sector Exports

The federal government is funding a couple of projects it says will help the grain sector increase exports.

Both projects are being led by the Canadian Grains Council.

One involves developing tools to help grain growers demonstrate their crops are grown in a sustainable way.

The other will allow the Council to collaborate with other grains and oilseeds industry stakeholders on common issues related to trade and market access in order to increase grain export opportunities for the sector.

The federal investment totals 1 point 4 million dollars.

Agriculture and AgriFood Canada says the Canadian grains and oilseeds sector generates over 18 billion dollars in exports - almost half of this country's total agriculture and agrifood exports.
