Government Bee Health Proposal Doesn't Respect Ag Sector Economics

A Grey County beekeeper says proposed pollinator health regulations are the result of a well funded and organized urban/environmental based anti-agriculture lobby.

Hugh Simpson doesn't believe the government's proposal is comprehensive or well informed about the potential impacts to be health.

He also feels it doesn't respect Ontario agriculture sector economics.

Simpson points out an alternative approach - the Pollinator Health Blueprint - was put together by a collaboration among stakeholders including farmers and beekeepers.

But he thinks it was thwarted by environmental ideologies and overlooked by the Premier and the Ministers of Agriculture and Environment.

Hugh Simpson is a beekeeper in Osprey Bluffs and co-founder of the Independent Commercial Beekeepers organisation .
