Getting Animal Care Research Results To The Front Lines

There is a lot of research and resources out there on caring for farm animals.

The problem, according to some, is that all that information isn't getting to the people who work with farm animals every day.

That's where the IMPACT project comes in.

Run by Farm & Food Care Ontario, the program aims to use innovative delivery methods to grab people's attention and make them want to take part in the training being offered.

Spokesperson Laura Beveridge says that includes interactive web-based learning, whiteboarding and a soon-to-be-available app.

But Beveridge says they'll also be offering more traditional workshops for those not comfortable with working on-line.

The IMPACT project is funded by OMAFRA through the Growing Forward 2 program.

It's website is www.farmimpact.ca.

Beveridge says it's a way to get some of the research and resources dealing with the care of animals to the people who can use it.

Beveridge says the two-year provincial program will use things like interactive , web-based learning to get that information to the people who can make the best use of it.
