Vintage in the Village returns to Point Edward on Friday.
The free car show will have live music, and hundreds of people are expected to turn out.
"The idea came from Point Edward and their village committee; they approached us to see if we would be willing to participate and collaborate on this car show, which is under the bridges at Waterfront Park in Point Edward. It was a pretty cool idea. It's a free event, and they supply the entertainment and the charity. And the charity is always a 50-50 draw per ticket," said Sarnia Street Cruisers spokesperson Houston Silverthorne.
The event runs on the last Friday of each month from May until September, and all raffle winnings go to a different charity each time. Huron House Boys Home will benefit from this month's event.
"It's just a free evening of enjoyment. Community gets together. Obviously, it's a popular spot being in Point Edward and the bridge and the water and the walking and the french fries. So it's just a great gathering, and we show up with lots of cars. And man, it just fills in with people. It's amazing! So it's a good community event," said Silverthorne.
This Friday's live music is a duo from Sarnia called Ainsworth's who play a blend of acoustic covers and original songs.
Anyone is welcome to come to the event as an attendee, or if you'd like to come and show off your ride, it's open to the public.
"We don't have restrictions on vehicles. If you're proud of it, you want to bring it and show it. That's what shows up. Our car club basically is pretty large in Sarnia, and for these shows, you'll end up seeing close to 250 cars and right up to over 300. So it just depends on the weather too," he said.
The event runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 31st.
