Bluewater Power is reporting record dividends for 2015 that exceed 2014 by nearly 25%.
In all, the corporation dolled out just over $1.7-million to its six municipal shareholders.
Sarnia's portion is $1.47-million, $126,000 goes to Petrolia, almost $58,000 to Pt. Edward and $37,000 to Warwick.
Alvinston gets about $12,000 and Oil Springs close to $6,000.
Bluewater Power President and CEO Janice McMichael-Dennis says a goal in recent years has been to offer greater financial returns to municipalities.
"Our number one key success factor for 2015 is certainly safety," says McMichael-Dennis. "If we can have a year without a significant safety incident, then we all breathe a sigh of relief and that's our first key to success. Certainly for 2015 we also enjoyed some increased profitability, mostly from our non-distribution type activities."
McMichael-Dennis says the company has been able to realize growth by expanding its reach into places like Toledo Ohio, Quebec, and Alberta.
The utility has paid out almost $34-million to municipalities since its inception in 2000.
