3D printer donated to Wiarton Library

Following a generous donation from a Library Board Trustee, the Wiarton Branch of Bruce County Public Library now has its own 3D printer.

The new Bambu Labs X1C 3D Printer was donated by Sheila Barker, a longtime library advocate and supporter of BCPL.

"Libraries have always been places where imagination grows. I’m proud to help ensure our community has access to tools that inspire life-long learning and creativity at all ages," said Barker.

The library says the new printer offers multi-colour capability, built-in camera capabilities for recording the printing process, and user-friendly software for enhanced accessibility.

In order to use it, residents will need to complete free training and certification in the Wiarton Branch. Once certified, people can book time to use the printer for their projects.

BCPL noted that the printer bolsters its commitment to expand beyond traditional library services, enabling residents to create, innovate, and develop new skills in an accessible and inclusive environment.
