Grain Farmers of Ontario wants people to know some of the costs involved in growing crops in this province.
The grain growers organisation estimates Ontario farmers have invested 1 point 25 billion dollars on inputs for this season's grain crops.
That includes seeds, seed treatments, fertilizers and pesticides.
Chair Mark Brock points out it's not uncommon for a farmer to spend several hundred thousand dollars just to get their crops started.
Brock adds that 1 point 25 billion dollars does not include labour costs, research and administration time, equipment maintenance and repairs.
He says growers also spend a lot of personal energy on the land and their crops.
Grain Farmers of Ontario represents the province's 28 thousand barley, corn, oat, soybean and wheat farmers.
GFO estimates the crops its members grow generate over 2 point 5 billion dollars in farm gate receipts a year.
