Another indication that death loss from the PED virus was much lower in the U-S last summer than last winter.
The University of Missouri's Ron Plain says last week's hog slaughter was up 3 point 5 per cent from the same week last year.
Plain says the past two weeks are the only two weeks since February of 2014 with hog slaughter above year-ago levels.
Pork trade numbers for the first 11 months of 2014 also show some of the impact of PED on the U-S industry.
Plain reports U-S pork imports were up 12 and a half per cent from January through November.
U-S pork exports over that same period were down 1 point 7 per cent.
