Smile! This year's Smile Cookie campaign supports hospice and school nutrition programs

When you buy a Smile Cookie at a Tim Horton's location in Windsor this year, you'll demonstrate your support for the Victorian Order of Nurses' Ontario Student Nutrition Program and the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.

The campaign started Monday morning at the Tim Horton's location on Manning Road in Tecumseh.

"Smile Cookie Week helps support the sustainability of local school food programs," said Supervisor of Community Relations for the Ontario Student Nutrition Program Danielle Findlay. "Schools are feeling the pressure of food inflation, so this campaign goes a long way to helping to ensure that children and youth get the nourishment they need to succeed at school."

The VON program funds and supports breakfast, snack and lunch programs at 95 Windsor and Essex County schools.

The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County provides compassionate end-of-life care to patients and their loved ones by offering specialized wrap-around services to adults, children, and their caregivers at home or their facility.

"Tim Hortons has been a longtime partner and supporter of our Hospice, going above and beyond to offer donations of baked goods, coffee, soups, and more to our patients and loved ones," said incoming Executive Director Katharen Bortolin.

The campaign runs until Sunday, May 5, and 100 per cent of the proceeds stay local.
